Rock Blog:
Welcome to the Kettle Moraine Geological Society's website.
Club members share the same interest in rocks and minerals, geology and earth
science. Our club members are of all ages, and our meetings are held once a
month Sept. - May. During the summer months we are out collecting and sharing
this fun and exciting hobby.
Members receive a monthly news letter filled with club news, events, field trips,
and stories, that are related with rocks and minerals and the lapidary hobby.
We provides displays, speakers, slide programs, demonstrations, and rocks and
minerals at our Annual Gem Show. We educate, and provides monies for library
school books and materials for area schools. (School Scholarship)
If you'er interested in rocks and minerals, and are looking for someone with the
same interest, join a rock club and become a Rockhound. You'll be glad you did.
LAST MINUTE "FIELD WALK "OUTTING SCHEDULED!!!
From John Rettler
I know this is last minute...and Easter weekend. But I do what I can when I can!
So here is the deal...
I will be available for a KMGS Field outing on Saturday am around 9:00am. You
can e-mail me at jrettler@nconnect.net or call my cell phone at 262-617-0022.
Let me know who is coming or if you need help finding the location, as we don't
want anyone left out.
From the South or East; it is 1.5 miles west of Hartford across from the Dodge
Industrial Park (Quadgraphics). You can take Hwy 41 North, Hwy 164 North or
Hwy 83 North to Hartford, then take Hwy 60 west, to the location on the left.
(South).
If your coming from the South or West; you can take Hwy P North or Hwy 67
North to Highway 60 east toward Hartford. Just across the Rubicon River and
"Goodland Road" you will find the location on the right (South).
I will put a sign along side of State Highway 60 that says "KMGS"! I may already
at the site calling Turkeys, reading or just marching around.
There is a path to the south to follow to the field and the area if the walk. It is
about 1/2 mile south off of Hwy 60. Please Stay near the edge of the path as we
don't want to run down the newly sprouted alfalfa. You will see my van and you
can park there and walk the rest of the way towards the woods on either side or
between the ponds.
There are no facilities at the location; so either stop at McDonalds in Hartford...or
be prepared to use a tree!
Hope to see you there!
